Marvel is striking up the band to play the Imperial March to comic shops everywhere in 2015 when it rolls out Star Wars #1 on January 14. This edition marks the return of Star Wars to Marvel comics after a long hiatus and it will be celebrated with full throttle launch parties at comic shops in all areas.

Marvel comics hasn't published a Star Wars book since 1987. Dark Horse Comics have been handling the line since 1991. This will be the first Star Wars series to come from retail giant Marvel in 28 years.
This announcement marks a huge milestone in the franchise's history and to mark such a huge event, Marvel is ensuring that fans are treated to more than just a good book. To celebrate there will be a variety of swag to be given out. This includes promotional pins as well as lithographs by Skottie Young and art by John Tyler Christopher. These are just a small part of the party kit that retailers can hope to receive.

"Brand new Star Wars comics featuring some of the biggest names in comics deserve the red carpet treatment," said Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel in a release. "We're committed to making sure our valued retail partners have everything they need to engage regular customers and new fans to check out what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest launches of the year."
Fans of the series can expect that the comic will introduce new characters with new adventures to help further build the massive Star Wars universe. Extreme fans of the series are no strangers to the addition of new faces and can expect the new Marvel series to tie back into existing media above and beyond just the original trilogy. Creators are working closely with the new film as well as other source material to create a book that ties in strongly with and sits comfortably in the universe that's already been created. Star Wars #1 will to be released on January 14, 2015.
