The annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will arrive soon enough and Apple will be announcing the company's future technologies and products, possibly including its next-gen iPhone 5.
Speculations have been swirling that Apple's new iPhone 5 will come with a larger expanded 4-inch screen display along with a new dock connector.
"The new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S. Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm-a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width," as reported in iLounge.
Apple's iPhone 5 may also be made from the Gorilla Glass 2 which can be manufactured for a thinner and slimmer body. If the rumors are to be considered, there is possibility of Apple changing the aspect ratio adding additional pixels on the top and bottom of the screen.
"The extra height of that display relative to today's models would have an effect on apps, as app developers would suddenly have to adapt to a different screen size," writes CNET.
It is also speculated that the new dock will be smaller than the previous iPhones and may come with just 16 pins instead of 30 pins. The hole of the dock connector is rumoured to have be "pill shaped" rather than rounded rectangle.
"It will be used on all upcoming devices, including an update to the iPod touch that's expected this year, and will almost certainly feature a similarly updated screen and CPU," writes iLounge.
According to what is speculated, Apple's next generation iPhone 5 will be released sometime in June during the annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) or there are possibilities of the phone coming out in October.
With Samsung already unveiled the specifications of it's much talked about smartphone Galaxy S3, the direct rival of Apple's iPhone, Apple fans will now have to hope that the company will come out with something better and innovative, an iPhone to look out for and own.
IN-CELL DISPLAY
iPhone 5 is rumored to be launching with a larger 4 inch display and moving the device to in-cell touch technology. According to DIgiTimes, Apple plans to use thinner in-cell for its new multi touch screens. The use of the new technology will also enable the iPhone 5 to be slimmer and lighter.
LIQUID METAL
Apple will look to introduce its new liquid metal material into the future lineup of iPhones. The iPhone 5 could see its glass casing replaced with a liquid metal casting that offers strength and scratch resistance. The material will also give the device a liquid smooth finish and gives Apple more flexibility to create unique body shape designs.
NFC
iPhone 5 users will experience a new way to interact and share content on iTunes with new NFC technology. Users can share playlists by gifting it to friends after paying with the technology.
Under this process, users gift their digital content by selecting the media files that needs to be gifted to a receiving device. Users then authorize the gift charge to the user's account created with the media provider.
LTE 4G
There have also been rumors that Apple's iPhone 5 will feature LTE 4G networking speeds powered by a quadcore A6 processor.
In a report from Cult of Mac, Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray said, "We believe the iPhone 5 launch is likely to follow the new typical pattern established with the iPhone 4S of an October launch. We expect the iPhone 5 to not only include a revolutionary newly designed body, but also support LTE and utilize the Qualcomm 28nm baseband modem."
RELEASE DATE
Reports have speculated that the iPhone 5 will arrive this summer, which will be consistent with Apple's past iPhone release dates. Other sources have claimed a possible September release for the device. Could we possibly see the iPhone 5 this year at WWDC?
