PS Plus Update: Sony Plans To Make A Better Product By Adding Better Free Content And Community Features

Sony Is Planning To Make PS Plus A Whole Lot Better Now That People Use It

Sony is planning on making its PlayStation Plus subscription service into a better product, and they've given some details about just how they're going to try to do that.

Dark Souls II Will Be Coming To The PS4 Next Year

Sony Computer Entertainment President and CEO Andrew House spoke about these plans during an investor event in Tokyo, DualShockers reported. According to the report, Sony plans on making PS Plus a better service for its subscribers by accomplishing three goals. The first is to give the PlayStation 4 a better lineup of online multiplayer games so more people will subscribe to the service and existing subscribers will have more ways to take advantage of their subscription. The second is to offer better free content in the PS Plus monthly free games collection.

Finally, Sony plans to strengthen the community aspect of PS Plus. If they can build up strong social features, the service could start to enjoy the kind of standing that services like Steam have now, where people join as much for the community as they do for the games.

When the PlayStation 4 was announced, Sony confirmed that, much like Xbox had done in the previous generation, it would require a subscription to its premium service in order to play online multiplayer on the PS4. Because of that decision, the number of PS Plus subscribers has quadrupled since the launch of the PS4, according to the DualShockers article, proving that Sony's tactic was successful.
