The Need for Speed franchise goes all the way back to 1994, when The Need for Speed first launched on the 3DO. Now, the next iteration of the series has been announced as Need for Speed No Limits will be taking street racing to iOS and Android in 2015.

The reveal trailer for Need for Speed No Limits stars rally car driver Ken Block as he plays through the mobile game for a couple of seconds. From what little we see of the early gameplay, it looks like the game will provide everything you'd expect from a Need for Speed title: slick cars, fast action and high speeds.
No Limits is being developed by Firemonkeys Studios, an Australia-based mobile developer under EA's umbrella. The Firemonkeys team is no stranger to getting the Need for Speed franchise onto mobile platforms, having released Need for Speed: Most Wanted for iOS and Android back in 2012. And they're certainly not a stranger to the racing genre as a whole. Their publishing history includes games like Real Racing, entries in the Fast and the Furious series and FIA World Rally Championship, all on mobile devices.

"The team at Firemonkeys has also been bringing Need for Speed to mobile gamers for years, and it's an honor and a privilege to once again get behind the wheel of this incredible franchise and redefine street racing on mobile," Firemonkeys Executive Producer Robert Huebner wrote in an EA news post. "We're constantly amazed by the power and performance we're able to get out of the latest phones and tablets and think you will be too."
Need for Speed No Limits should be screeching onto iTunes and Google Play sometime next year.
