'God of War: Ascension' Demos Multiplayer Mode

God of War: Ascension is set to wow gamers  with a new  dimension of multiplayer gaming experience, as a demo play was  featured at Santa  Monica studio.

Sony has confirmed "one of the worst kept  secrets in the industry" at a press event that the upcoming addition to the God of War series will have multiplayer aspect, allowing up to eight people to play  simultaneously. The game director Todd Papy unveiled the demonstration at the studio.

"The whole idea behind it is that we want to bring the big moments to multiplayer," said Papy after the demonstration.

"When we first started talking about it, it  was, 'What makes it epic?' Well, killing big guys does. And so that was the  inception idea, and so that's where we started," Papy explained.

In the multiplayer game, players will sell their souls and allying with one of four gods - Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, or Hades, which will eventually determine one's available magical abilities, items, another unique      features. Kratos chooses Ares in the original story, but players of God of War: Ascension has option to choose others according to their taste. The differences between choosing different gods have not been revealed yet.      Customizing the character  will also be available, such as the costume, armor, weapons, and possibly even tattoos.

At this point, the multiplayer is focusing on   competitive modes with co-op partners, but the team is considering new modes, such   as horde mode, in the future.

Single-player mode is still available, and  gamers will play  Kratos in this mode. The setting for the God of War: Ascension is   prequel to the entire series, and players will see a younger look of the  Spartan hero      Kratos as he tries to break the blood oath that bound him to Ares.   

The game is anticipating a release exclusively  for PlayStation 3 in 2013.
