PlayStation All Stars, Capcom: Kratos vs. Akuma? "Not for Launch"

PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a celebration of great characters brought together from various PlayStation games throughout the years in epic battle.

After previewing trailer footages and screenshots, fans are eagerly waiting for the game release along with an official list of characters.  Some of the most desired characters are the iconic fighters from Capcom's Street Fighter franchise.

In a forum discussion on "Capcom-Unity," a question was raised whether PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale will contain any Capcom  characters. Based on Capcom Vice President Christian Svensson's response, it appears that All Stars may not be seeing PlayStation's Kratos battling with the likes of Chun-Li, Akuma, Strider, or Felicia at launch.

"I saw the announcement and as I'm sure you noticed, it's shipping this year. Which means... I'd bet that they're at or near content complete for launch," said Svensson.

So if you're asking us to engage now in the hopes of getting something in, it's probably safe to assume that if something already isn't planned for/built, it's probably not going to happen (at least not for launch).

Second... while I'd like to see some Capcom stuff in the game (it looks cool), this is a Sony game, not a Capcom game. I'm not able speak to what their plans or intentions are with regard to third party content. Again, it's a question for Sony, not Capcom."

Fans can expect to play characters from a selection of third party developers and publishers. Some of the confirmed characters that will be featured in the game includes  Kratos (God of War), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), Parappa the Rapper, Fat Princess, Colonel Radec and Sly Cooper. Sony confirmed that more characters will be included, which will be announced in the months to come.

"What we tried to do is take all these characters that come from these very diverse worlds and sort of have them meet in the center, and center for us is that PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale universe," said Omar Kendall, Game Director for PlayStation All Stars in an interview with USA Today.

"They retain a lot of their essence while also existing in the same world that we have created here and we think we really did a good job," Kendall added.

Expectations are high as Sony will bring together its best into one platform.  Epic battles are awaiting such as Kratos challenging Parappa's kung-fu moves in an interactive battle arena.

"Our fans have been talking about that game for years, on forums online and so one day I was like, you know what, it's about time that we did that and here we are, two and half years later," said PlayStation All Stars Senior Producer, Ivan Glaze, in an interview with Gamerlive.tv.
