The huge world of Archeage is about to get a little bit smaller. Developer XL Games has partnered with GAMEVIL to bring the hugely popular F2P MMORPG to mobile devices.
ArcheAge Online Preview: Our Impressions Of MMO's Closed Beta 4
Since the game's release here in North America and in Europe, two million people have taken a trip to the game's fantasy world. Few other details have emerged as to how a mobile version will operate.
However, it is not beyond the realm of possibility. MMOs are very complicated affairs, but they are not necessarily the most graphic intensive titles available on the market. If XL and GAMEVIL can strip away some elements, there's no reason some version of the game could not run on current gen tablets. One would assume tablets, but hey, an iPhone or Android phone could be possible, too.

"The mobile version of ArcheAge will combine XL Games' development with GAMEVIL's service to provide the ultimate mobile MMORPG experience."
GAMEVIL is no stranger to online RPGs for mobile devices. The company released Kritika this past summer onto iOS and Android and has several dozen titles under its belt. How they will translate a rich and detailed world remains to be seen.
Personally, I would be satisfied with an ArcheAge mobile app that is only jury trials. The game famously has not only an in-game economy, but an in-game justice system to which juries and judges can decide the fates of their peers. The results have been uh, well, kind of awesome.
You can start playing ArcheAge, which focuses heavily on PvP combat, for free. Just head on over to the main site.
