11 bit studios has released This War Of Mine on PC, Mac and Linux platforms.
Consider it perfect timing for the season. From the looks of it and our limited time with the beta, the game will make you thankful for all the little things you may take for granted. This War Of Mine weaves a tale of war unlike any other in video gaming. Whereas other titles put you in the shoes of some elite soldier, here you play a handful of civilians just trying to survive.
It is not sexy, it is not power fantasy. It is life. "Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them to endure the hardships. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better."
Tales From The Borderlands' First Real Trailer
"War always happens on somebody's doorstep." 11 bit has released a new launch trailer which follows Emir, a survivor of the devastating siege of Sarajevo back in the mid-90s. Like the game itself, the video is a haunting examination of the lingering effects of conflict. War never changes. And war never leaves. Long after the bombs and mortars have stopped, you will carry the memories like scars.
Craft what little you can from what scraps you can fin. Build your shelter during the day and at night, scavenge for goods and supplies in an ever dwindling area. The charcoal animation gives the game this feeling that at any time, everything could be erased. In a way, that's true.
This War of Mine is available on Steam and Games Republic today.
