Kingdom Wars Goes Free To Play On Steam; Introduces XP And In-Game Boosting Premium Account Instead

MMORTS Title Kingdom Wars Is Now Free To Play On Steam; Literally No Better Time To Join Up Than Now

The MMORTS (Massively Multiplayer Online Real Time Strategy) title Kingdom Wars, once a premium game, has now officially gone free-to-play on Steam.

Reverie World Studios made the announcement back in August and now made it official. There is no better time to get in on all the kingdom building and warmongering that is quite literally present in the title. All without the pesky "pay-to-win" model that has become a pariah in the gaming community in recent years.

"With Kingdom Wars going free-to-play our primary goal is to create a large player community that loves and supports our games", said Konstantin Fomenko, Reverie World CEO. "To this end we did not go the standard pay-to-win route, instead opting for limited micro-transactions that doesn't affect gameplay mechanics in any way. It's a game of skill, not bigger wallets"

Kingdom Wars will still feature in-game currency - Crowns - that can be earned through questing, PvPs or by expansion of one's empire. Players will not be able to purchase Crowns directly using their Steam Wallet. However, they are including a Premium Account option that acts as a Grinding Booster that lets players earn Crowns faster with double the reward for Quests and PvP among other things.

The Premium accounts will also offer double Crown rewards for all quests. This will not change the power balance of the game, but simply cut down on the time it takes for you to reach a certain level. Is it perfect? No, it never is. But devs have to balance the cost of making and updating while also trying to get the game out as many people as might be interested.

Additionally, the Premium Account time boosts will last for in-game time, not real world time. So if you have to go away for a week and can't check on your Kingdom, the boost will be there when you log back in.

Kingdom Wars was released back in 2013 under the title Dawn Of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars.

The game takes place in an online, persistent world where you can command the forces of either Humans, Elves or Orcs. You gather resources, build empires, forge alliances and attack one another. You can download Kingdom Wars for the PC on Steam here.
