In case you were unaware, there is a third Hunger Games movie coming to theaters next week. Even if you were, Lionsgate is making damn sure you never have to go more than five minutes without some sort of update on the adventures of Katniss Everdeen.
Margot Robbie Suits Up As Harley Quinn In The Suicide Squad Movie
The company released a new thirty second spot that repurposes several of the previous trailers. The spot, titled 'Battle' focuses on the action beats in Mockingjay from both Capitol and Rebellion forces. The music is thumping, and the camera seems a little a more stable than past installments. The shaky cam on display in the first film undercut the impact of the fact that we had kids killing kids for most of the time.
The commercial boldly proclaims that 'the games are over'. The end of the second movie had Katniss destroying the dome in which the titular contest is played and spirited off to the mythic, and previously thought destroyed, District 13. Mockingjay will eschew the arena-style combat for an out and out warfare model.
The Hunger Games! Live On Stage!
The appeal of the books was the Thunderdome-esque struggle of adolescents fighting for adult's amusement. A true bread and circuses style affair. The third book lost a little of that charm with its switch to open rebellion, so it will be interesting to see how the next two films handle that transition.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part I, the third installment of the four-part dystopian YA series, opens in literally every theater next week on November 21. Francis Lawrence direct. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.
