Diablo 3 Beta Now Open, 4 Years in the Making

For a limited time, Diablo fans have the opportunity to test out Blizzard's latest Diablo 3 game in an open beta test run from Friday, April 20 at 3:01 p.m. ET/12:01 p.m. PDT (noon) until Monday, April 23 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

Game developing company Blizzard announced that they plan to test the online game servers and players will be able to play the PC game through the Battle.net account.  The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will not be available for this open beta weekend.

PC players have the chance to slash at demons and devils as one of five classes: Barbarian, Witch Doctor, Wizard, Monk, and Demon Hunters.  Posted on the official website, it states:

"Beginning this Friday everyone is invited to log in and help us put the game and servers through their paces in this three day stress test as we march toward the game's release on May 15."

Players will need to go to the Battle.net website, create an account, then download the client.  Install and you will be on your way to slaying demonic hellspawn that stands in your path.

Diablo 3 will place gamers 12 years after the ending from Diablo 2.  The defeat of Mephisto Diablo and Baal have earned a time of peace but evil has made its way back to the world of Sanctuary.  Players will gear up with magic spells, weapons, and abilities in order to destroy demonic creatures that havocs Tristram.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for nearly 4 years since the company announced the game back in 2008.  The beta release is a good sign that Diablo 3 is getting more polished and refined for the big release.

Diablo is planned for a May 15 release and will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
