The trailer for Avengers: Age Of Ultron was leaked nearly seven days early two weeks ago. Marvel was quick to capitalize on the situation, making light of the premature release with a clever tweet and quickly putting the full HD trailer online because if you're going to see the trailer early, you may as well see it how it was meant to be seen.

Marvel played along, but that doesn't mean they're playing. The company likes to keep things close to the chest as they have a very specific release schedule, fueled by pinpoint marketing and timing. The leak was anything but. Many, myself included, speculated that the leak was more of a "leak", a secretive marketing ploy from the company to drum up interest.
Turns out, it was not, and Marvel is out for blood. Deadline is reporting that the House Of M has been granted a subpoena against Google to reveal the source of the leak. This is a very quick turnaround in the legal world; Marvel filed for the subpoena via federal court yesterday.
Would It Have Killed Us To Wait A Little Bit To Watch The Trailer?
The subpoena directs - nay, commands - the internet search giant to hand over all information regarding John Gazelle, the original poster of the Age of Ultron trailer, including ISP, account creation and 'any identifying information'.
It's like something out of a Tom Clancy novel.
The order does not grant full impunity. "Judge Richard Wieking did not grant Marvel's request to "permit entry onto the designated premises, land, or other property possessed or controlled by you at the time, date, and location set forth."
Aah, Marvel, you gentle giant. You don't ever forget. And you will never forgive. You can read the whole subpoena here. And of course, watch the full HD trailer below. It's so good.
