Earlier this week, Smite revealed the concept for the upcoming new character Nox, goddess of the night. Yesterday, developer Hi-Rez Studios revealed the information behind Nox's kit, including her various abilities that work together to make her opponents more cautious while casting abilities.
Nox is a new type of mage built to harass the opposing team through silences and through her abilities that give her bonuses when opponent gods try to use their own abilities. It starts with Nox's passive ability. When gods' abilities are used near Nox, her candles fill up. Nox is able to then use her candles to cast her own abilities without a mana cost.
Nox's first active ability allows her to cleanse herself while reducing damage taken, offering the goddess a solid escape plan for sticky situations. Her second ability is a damaging projectile attack that also applies a silence to enemies hit, preventing them from casting abilities. This attack also applies Darkness to enemies hit, which works well with Nox's third ability. This ability is cast in an area of effect, doing damage to those caught in the radius and dealing extra damage to enemies with Darkness.

Nox's ultimate ability is really where her harassment skills shine. Nox links to an enemy player, making it so that every time that player casts an ability, that enemy takes damage and Nox gets her cooldowns reduced.
Nox is able to turn her enemies' active abilities, normally the strongest part of a god's kit, into her own advantage. When she's finally introduced into the game in next week's patch, there will likely be plenty of matches at first where players forget who they're playing against and cast their abilities without thinking about it, unintentionally making Nox even more effective.
