Hyrule Warriors, the Zelda/Dynasty Warriors mashup title for Wii U, is getting the Amiibo treatment.
Legend Of Korra Available Now; 3DS Game Next Week
Nintendo of America announced on Twitter that the upcoming Link Amiibo figure will be compatible with the action title. The tweet contained no specifics, telling us only to "stay tuned for more info".
The forthcoming Skylanders-esque figures are due out on November 21, just in time for their use in Super Smash Bros for the Wii U. Amiibos (can we get a clear ruling on the plural form? Amiibae? Sticking with Amiibos?) are small action figures that give the owner a digital version of the character. The player can then fight with and use the Amiibo, making it better, stronger, faster, etc.
Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley Sows Itself Into European Soil Next Year
It's the perfect marriage of old analog and new digital technologies.
Hyrule Warriors joins Mario Kart 8 as the only other currently in release title that will utilize the Amiibo figures when they drop next month. In addition to Smash Bros, the figures are also compatible alongside the upcoming Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, and Yoshi's Woolly World.
Details on how exactly the figures will integrate with each game are still up in the air. But, even if you never end up playing with them, they sure do look pretty. None are expressly required to play any of the games, unlike Skylanders and Disney Infinity which are expressly built on them. What would the purpose be here?
Nintendo has already shown off the first twelve compatible figures, Mario, Peach, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer. You can pre-order them at various places, such as Best Buy.
