The Evil Within has burst onto the scene today, and the game's new launch trailer shows just how much just how much it will have you on edge. You might want to play this one with the lights on.
The Player Dies A Lot In The Latest Evil Within Video
The launch trailer is part accolades trailer, as it includes plenty of quotes from media outlets sounding off about just how true to form this return to the roots of the survival horror genre is. With scenes of eerie and tense stillness bookmarked by rivers of blood and chainsaw maniacs casually slicing people in half, the trailer showcases the two halves of any good survival horror game: uneasy silences and frightening horror scenes.
The game is directed by the legendary Shinji Mikami, creator of the landmark Resident Evil survival horror series. Though The Evil Within had no shortage of pre-release trailers and videos showing off the game, Mikami says that the fun can really start now that the game is out to the public.
"It was incredibly important to me and the team to bring the survival horror genre back to its roots. For us, it was all about creating fear and giving the player the enjoyment of conquering it," Mikami said in a release. "Up until now we've kept a lot of the game under wraps to avoid spoilers, so it's very exciting that people are now able to experience the game from beginning to end."
The Evil Within is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
