The PlayStation Store was updated yesterday with the free monthly titles for PlayStation Plus members, and for PS4 this month new racing title DriveClub and rougelike platformer Spelunky are on tap.
Destiny's Iron Banner Event Is Now Live Until October 14
The offer is supposed to include both a paid and free version of DriveClub, but only the paid edition of the game has yet to show up in the store. The confusion has been cleared up by a post on the game's Facebook page, which explains that heavy traffic forced the developers to hold back the free version.
"We are sorry if you are having a hard time getting online as we know many of you are," Evolution Studios member Rushy wrote. "Please be aware that the game will automatically keep trying to connect you. Once you're online, you should have no further problems during your session. Everyone at the studio is now working hard to get new updates ready for the game servers to improve connectivity. We will be rolling out these updates day by day and will keep you informed.
Open World Racing Title The Crew Delayed Until December, Another Beta Coming
"In order to help all DriveClub players who have the game already, we're temporarily holding back the PS Plus Edition and the My DriveClub app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers and, once the servers are operating well, we'll be sure to let you know when the PS Plus Edition and My DriveClub app will be available to download."
There were already disgruntled PlayStation owners (as a look through the post's comments will show you) who felt they had been mislead by the developers. The title was originally said to be free for all PS+ users with a smaller fee to upgrade to the full version, before it was delayed and the $49.99 paid edition was revealed. Some users feel the free version of the title now represents little more than a demo for the full game, with its size and features stripped. This delay has further exacerbated the issue, but it remains to be seen how the two-versions will perform.
