Nintendo has finally revealed the release date for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros: the title is set to launch on November 21 in North America.
Our Starter Guide For Jumping Into Super Smash Bros 3DS
The Wii U title will cost the traditional $59.99, but is also available in a $99.99 bundle that includes a new GameCube controller and the adapter needed to use it on the Wii U. The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros launched last week, allowing Nintendo to now shift focus to the console title.
The first wave of Amiibo toys will also launch alongside the game on November 21. The Skylander-style figures integrate with the Wii U's gamepad to bring the characters to life in the game, where they can be customized and upgraded. For more information on how that process will work, see Nintendo's Amiibo page.

The first characters will be Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Peach, Marth, Yoshi, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer. Each figure will cost $12.99, and are available for pre-order. The next wave of figures will launch some time in December.
Amiibo figures aren't just compatible with Super Smash Bros, of course: Mario Party 10 and Yoshi's Woolly World will use the figures, and support for Mario Kart 8 will be added in the future. A release date for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was also announced--the title will be out on December 5 for $39.99.
