Details about some new updates to popular browser-based tanking game Tanki Online were released on the Tanki Forum. The new update includes changes to in-game chat and an upgrade to the game's security, among other changes.
Tanki's First Big Update This Week: Smart Cooldowns
Developer AlternativaPlatform has changed around the UI of in-game chat to make it more apparent to the player which messages are directed to the entire battlefield and which are restricted to just their team. Color cues help the player keep track of general versus team chat, even while typing a message. A quick press of the Tab button lets players easily switch from one to the other while typing.
In the security department, Tanki's developers made it so that a player's email address is not entirely visible from within his own account settings page. This means that if a player's account is broken into, the hacker still does not have the email address associated with that account. Not only does this mean the player's email is still secure, but it also means his account has less of a chance of being completely lost because the hacker does not have the email account necessary to reset the Tanki profile.

Tanki is also giving new players a hand by offering a helpful notification on how to recover from a tank rollover. If the game sees a low-level player stranded with his treads in the air, it will now offer him a quick tip on how to get out of that unfortunate situation.
Tanki Online is free to play for PC.
