It looks like cell providers really want to get iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices into the hands of current iPhone owners. Verizon extended its iPhone trade-in deal by two weeks, and now it looks like AT&T is doing the same thing, except theirs goes on for another month.
Verizon Extends iPhone Trade-In Deal Another Two Weeks
It's not the exact same deal as before. Trading in a working order iPhone 5S will get customers a $300 AT&T promotion card, enough to offset the cost of a new iPhone 6 Plus with a contract or a 64 GB iPhone 6. iPhone 5 and 5C owners can trade in their phones for a $200 card, enough for a basic iPhone 6 model. The only difference now is that iPhone 4 and 4S models are only worth a $100 card. It's not enough for a new phone, but it will certainly ease the cost of upgrading.
AT&T's original offer lasted until the end of September and guaranteed a $200 promotion card for any working-order iPhone back to the iPhone 4. This new promotion isn't as kind to iPhone 4 owners, but it's valid until October 31.
Like Verizon's iPhone trade-in deal, a purchase of a smartphone is required to get the full trade-in value of your iPhone with AT&T. Unlike Verizon, however, that new smartphone doesn't seem to need to be an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. Want to trade in your iPhone 5S for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4? It looks like AT&T will be happy to let you do that.
Verizon's original deal of a $200 gift card for any working-order iPhone model back to the iPhone 4 is still running, but it's only until October 15.
