Art director Brad Stokan takes viewers on a quick overview of some of the new material and updates you will experience whilst en route to the far reaches of the unknown.

Delta Rising takes place 32 years after Voyager traveled through the region and generally caused a huge ruckus. All is not calm. A mysterious new force, who I believe are meant to be the Iconians, the advanced race responsible for the gateways players can use to access the quadrant. Whomever this foe ends up being, it is enough to get the Federation, Klingons and the goddamn Romulans working together, so you know it must be serious.

First and foremost, Delta Rising will raise the level cap from 50 to 60, and with it, offer up new skills and abilities players can advance on their way to more advanced content.

The expansion also adds the new Intelligence Bridge Officer subclass with "a suite of awesome new powers for both ground and space", which is kind of like a very advanced Data, on who can analyze and exploit enemy weaknesses whilst engaged in direct combat. In order to utilize these new abilities, the crew over at Arc Games is introducing new Tier 6 vehicles.

There is a wealth of new adventure zones and ground areas. The homeworld of Kobali Prime, which were first introduced in the season 6 episode 'Ashes to Ashes', serves as the new home planet in the Delta Quadrant. One hopes that the Kobali's "unique" method of reproduction, wherein humanoid corpses are genetically altered, is also introduced for a more macabre twist. Stokan is very excited about the Kobali Adventure zone.

Also, experienced players will be able to try out several elite versions of the content, so as to not get bored in the end game.

Of course, several members of Voyager's original cast will be there along side you. Tuvok, Kim, Neelix, The Doctor and Seven of Nine will fight and adventure alongside you as you explore and discover the strange oddity that is the Delta Quadrant.

Delta Rising hits servers in two weeks on October 14 and is completely free. You can download Star Trek Online here.
