A new video posted to Tanki Online's YouTube channel showcases the kinds of impressive parkour stunts that the game's userbase is capable of. Who knew tanks could be so light on their feet?
Tanki Revealed Its Unity Port Back At Gamescom
Parkour has become a fun part of the Tanki Online community since a core group of tankers developed the techniques needed to get heavy tanks up onto the rooftops of a level's buildings. Tank parkour experts use a combination teamwork, explosive mines, friendly fire and the propulsion of their own weapons to manage some crude platforming in their unwieldy vehicles.
With these methods, tanks are able to accomplish everything from quadruple front flips onto a two-story building to slowly ascending to the top of a skyscraper that no tank should be able to feasibly surmount. The resulting footage of flying tanks is beautiful, like watching those hippos dance ballet in Fantasia.
New World Of Tanks Patch Adds New Tanks, Maps And UI Upgrades
Now, more members of the community have gotten in on the fun, and Tanki developer AlternativaPlatform has fully embraced the trend. Beyond the parkour compilation video they released, the developer is also holding official contests to see which parkour teams can be the most creative in their special brand of tank acrobatics. Prizes include in-game currency (sometimes reaching up to 1 million crystals) and special paint packs that let tankers show off to the world how much they have mastered the art of flipping onto buildings.
Tanki Online is free to play right in your browser. A port utilizing the Unity game engine is also in the works, which should allow the game to make its way onto many other platforms.
