Starting later this year, players will be able to bring the galaxy far, far away to their mobile devices. Lucasfilm and Disney have partnered with Japanese game developer to create Star Wars: Galactic Defense, a fully licensed tower defense game for the iOS and Android platforms.
Puzzles And Dragons Gets A Big Update For Mobile
The free-to-play mobile game will feature characters, ships and locations from both the Original and Prequel trilogy, such as Hoth, Tatooine and Geonosis. Players can choose from among four different factions, each with their own towers, units and upgrade trees, while employing 30 characters from the Star Wars universe to aid you to victory. The game will feature 100 different battles which should take you from beginner to expert in no time.
You will also get to choose between the Light and Dark side of the Force, which will affect how certain scenarios play out, regardless of your faction. There will be many, many ways to play the title. And after you're done besting the computer, you can go online and battle your friends to see who truly is a Jedi Master.
Destroy All Humans Anywhere! Anomaly Defenders Hits Android Devices
All you really need to get me to agree to anything are the words 'Star Wars' and 'tower defense'. And if they're in the same sentence, well then I guess I know what I'm doing later this year.
"Star Wars is a franchise that has touched us all at DeNA and we're honored to work with Disney and Lucasfilm on Star Wars: Galactic Defense," said Barry Dorf, vice president of partnerships and alliances at DeNA. "We can't use the Force, but we do have one of the world's most talented and passionate mobile development teams working to create an unforgettable Star Wars gameplay experience."
No exact date has been given for the title. You can sign up now via the official site to be notified when the game will hit phones and also earn some fun in-game rewards, such as Darth Maul. Watch the developer diary for Star Wars: Galactic Defense below.
