Imagine a team of true Expendables, made up solely of DC supervillains, sent on high-risk missions across the world for the US government. Warner Brothers can surely imagine it, as they are in talks with a director for the comic book adaptation right now!
World Of Tanks Will Send You To DC To See Brad Pitt's Fury
Variety reports WB is talking to David Ayer, director of Arnold Schwarzenegger thriller Sabotage and the upcoming Brad Pitt WWII tank movie Fury.
The original 1959 Suicide Squad was made up of non-powered characters fighting aliens, giant monsters and other assorted comic book nuisances around the world. In the late 80s, the concept of the Suicide Squad was revived and transformed into an Amanda Waller led task force meant to make use of captured supervillains. They were sent on suicide missions that would either kill them or grant them amnesty if they survived.
Supergirl TV Show Happening... At CBS
Don't expect people like the Joker or Lex Luthor in it (although Harley Quinn is in the most current comic incarnation of the team), since the original 80s line-up consisted of people like Rick Flag, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Enchantress, Bronze Tiger and Blockbuster.
The Suicide Squad has already been on the early 00s Justice League cartoon, the final season of Smallville and the second season of Arrow - all with different member line-ups. What would your ideal version be like for this movie? I almost think Ayer can just remake Sabotage with supervillains and it'd be a decent movie. Just keep the meanness!
