Lightning Strikes The PC: Final Fantasy XIII Available On Steam In October, Full Trilogy Out By Spring

Lightning Strikes! Final Fantasy XIII Will Be Coming To PC And Steam This October

The Tokyo Game Show has been all about Final Fantasy. There was a major update to FF XIV announced recently, FF XV is finally coming and now, we learn that Final Fantasy XIII, one of the most popular entries into the series, will be arriving on PC.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Upcoming Patch Announced

Final Fantasy XIII, proper, will be hitting Steam and the Square Enix store on October 9 for $15.99. Pre-orders are now available, and players purchasing the title via Steam will get a 10% discount, plus some Steam Cards of the game.

FF XIII is the first installment of the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection, which I believe roughly translates to 'Fabulous New Crystals', though my...uh...French? Is a bit rusty. The first game, which may have included a tutorial longer than some games, was released in 2010 here in the states and was the first title in the series to land on multiple separate consoles. The game's success garnered two sequels: FF XIII-2 in 2012 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which launched earlier this year and concludes the trilogy. Both titles will be coming to the PC at a later, undisclosed date. The release does confirm that all three will be available by next spring.

Final Fantasy XV Demo Date Confirmed; Director, Not Confirmed

The trilogy has sold over 11 million copies, which when looked at as one story broken up into three parts, like The Hobbit, makes it the best selling adventure in the series. Square Enix no doubt hopes to increase that number with the PC release.

But do tell me when they realize that Final Fantasy XI is a great game and release that on PC. My PS3 does not have backwards compatibility.

Pre-order the game via Steam here. The not-so-final-after-all title hits soon.
