Latest Styx Master Of Shadows Video Highlights The Fine Art Of Dying: Embrace The Shadows, Or Die Trying

Live. Die. Repeat. In Latest Styx: Master Of Shadows Trailer

We here at GameNGuide are excited for the upcoming next gen stealth game Styx: Master of Shadows. We haven't even the met green-skinned goblin and already we feel some small attachment to him. What's not to love? He can run, jump, tumble and assassinate his way to glory.

I Think Styx's A Clone Now...

Well, most of the time. The latest trailer for Cyanide Studio's title is like watching a condensed version of Edge of Tomorrow: it features Styx dying in many brutal, and at times, hilarious ways. Make no mistake, if you find yourself in a tight spot, you can't just draw your sword and fight your way through like you were a member of some ancient Gnostic order of paid killers; if you are caught out in the open, you probably will die. Cyanide is quick to emphasize: embrace the shadows, or die trying. This is a stealth action game. Not an action stealth game.

Previous videos made Styx's infiltration of the Tower seem like a walk in the park. Not so. Per the release, "Enemies react promptly to the goblin's presence: stick your nose out of the shadows for half a second too long, make too much noise slicing the throat of a guard or bumping a piece of furniture you did not notice, and they will come investigate, search for you under tables, inside any containers or chests you may be hiding in, and call in other guards for help depending on their level of 'alertness'."

Silent Hill TGS Trailer Will Terrify You

Players can parry and dodge their way out when confronted, but this is a game borne on silence. And swords clanking is anything but, and it calls more people to your location. Hardcore players can turn on the Goblin mode to test their stealth mastery, which mode prohibits Styx from fighting back in any situation. Instead, he'll be shot, strangled, hammered, or sliced into pieces the second he's in range and noticed...

Styx: Master Of Shadows is due out next month for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Watch the trailer below. And can someone do a re-edit and put in some comedy music in there? Benny Hill or the music they play on America's Funniest Home Videos?
