Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the best Marvel films to date. It is certainly its most accomplished. The game fundamentally changed the direction of the Marvel Universe. If directors Joe and Anthony Russo are correct, the third film will change it all up once again.

In an interview with Crave Online, the brothers sat down to talk the recently released Winter Soldier Blu ray and their thoughts on the upcoming sequel. The two are exhausted, having been working on Cap 3 since before the release of Cap 2. The two are aware of the title, but cannot reveal what it is yet.
However, they were able to drop this little nugget of speculation: "If you've been talking to Kevin [Feige] the title has been in place probably for ten years in his brain. It's all part of the road map that he's laid out, and it's all part of the bigger plan." says Joe.
What's Happening In The DC Film World?
He follows up by saying, "Yeah, I think the way Kevin does it is there are big pieces that he knows he wants to build towards, but the way that you get there is open to interpretation and improv a little bit. That's defined by who gets involved with the project, the writers and directors involved in the project. The big thing we knew we had to deal with in Cap 2 was the fall of Hydra. Similarly there is a very, very big idea at the center of Cap 3. But how we get there is all up to us."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone off the path of the comics, but certain ideas still remain and bleed through. The characters are still fundamentally the same, why couldn't certain plot elements and storylines be true as well? This is but mere speculation, but given the shake-up we saw in The Winter Soldier, might the MCU be headed towards a Civil War event of some sort?
A world without heroes. Cap 2 already delved into the seedier, more political side of the 'superhero' issue and we got a glimpse of the potential backlash against them at the end of The Avengers. Given the destruction that has befallen both New York and Washington, plus countless of other smaller towns and cities in the MCU, the call for some sort of Superhero Registration seems fitting.
Again, speculation. Cap 2 was very much Captain America's movie, the only other Avenger there was Black Widow. But characters have been known to pop up in each other's films.
Last speculation. Chris Evans has expressed interest in retiring from acting after his contract as Cap is over. A shame, but not unexpected or surprising. Towards the end of the Civil War mega-event a few years back, Captain America was, in fact, killed. As big a shake-up in the Marvel Universe as any. Anthony Mackie, who played Falcon, could be the next logical choice for the shield. A passing of the torch, if you will.
Read the whole interview at Crave. Speculation aside, the enthusiasm and intelligence the Russo brothers put forth for the project should give us all hope that Captain America 3 will be just as good, if not better, than The Winter Soldier.
