The tried and true Angry Birds formula is back, with a twist. Angry Birds Stella, now free-to-play on iOS, Android and Amazon devices, is revitalizing the "slingshot birds into pigs" formula while adding in some new game mechanics and a focus on characters.
So Angry Birds Transformers Is A Thing
The new mechanics seem to focus on being able to freeze in mid-air and more accurately target your next move to a specific spot. While this seems like a powerful addition to the player's arsenal, it likely means that the levels are also now more than ever designed with accuracy in mind. The strategy of giving up and just firing off a bird just to see where it lands may prove to be ineffectual in Angry Birds Stella.
Another change Stella is introducing to the Angry Birds formula is a new focus on characters. The birds you'll be flinging at pigs have somewhat of a backstory, and each is listed as having a distinct personality. The birds are all close friends that are trying to stop Gale, the Bad Princess, from stealing their scrapbook (this game's equivalent to the eggs of classic Angry Birds).
A Much-Appreciated Update For Clash Of Clans Should Be On The Way
Stella is, as you could guess, the leader of this bunch. She's joined by character tropes like the funny one, the creative one and the brainy one. It's a recipe that seems like it could have been ripped right out of any given Saturday morning cartoon, but given the game's apparent target audience of younger girls, that seems mostly like just smart marketing. Angry Birds Stella is also said to be getting a toy line and even a cartoon in the future, so this cookie-cutter cast of characters makes a fair bit of sense.
