Xbox One Japanese Release: Microsoft Offering Six Months Of Gold Membership To Everyone Who Buys Console In Japan

Microsoft Giving Away Six Months Of Gold Membership To All Japanese Customers Who Purchase An Xbox One

Microsoft is rolling out the Xbox One into 28 other markets over the coming weeks. The biggest place they want a foothold in, Japan, may also be one of the toughest. Problem? Meet solution.

Sniper Elite III's Fourth DLC Gives You The Weapons Of Your Enemy

The company revealed today the beginning of their Xbox One Initial Purchase Gift Campaign, which will give newly minted Xbox One owners six free months of Gold Membership. The deal lasts until December 31st, or until the limited number of codes run out.

Now, I know what you're thinking: let's go to Japan. And normally, I'd say yes. But not for this. Plane tickets are too expensive. Also, Microsoft is ahead of us. A person must fulfill four requirements in order to access the deal: he or she must have an internet connection, have purchased the Xbox in Japan, have the region set to Japan and also live there. They were debating having customers also find the secret of the Jade Monkey, but they must have deemed that too time consuming.

New PS4 Cooling System Is So Nice And Tiny

Microsoft has struggled to make its presence known in Japan with both the original Xbox and the 360. The Japanese and Asian markets are huge, but very specific. It is an entirely different cultural philosophy behind video games there, something the FPS heavy Xbox has not always been great with.

Six months of Gold Membership costs about $40 over in Japan and since membership comes with free games, it's a damn fine piece of PR.
