Tanki Online Celebrates Gamescom Debut With Tournaments, In-Game Items
In the tournament, four two-person teams will compete to see who can win the honor of being the tournament's top tank team. The teams will each represent one category of player. The first team consists of AlternativaPlatform's best in-house duo and is already selected. Lead Game Designer Vladimir Kovtun and German Community Manager Valery Schumann will be leading the charge and representing the game's developers.
The other three teams will represent each of Tanki Online's biggest international communities: English, Russian and German. The game's most dedicated players have already registered to join in the competition, and the lucky six will be announced tomorrow.
Tanki Online Introduces New Tank: The Wasp
The tournament isn't just fun for the participants, though. The developers have introduced a sort of in-game betting system so that the stakes will be high across the community. Once the tournament has all of its eight combatants, two paint sets will be available from the Tanki Online garage for 1,000 crystals each. One of these paints represents the team of developers and the other represents all three community teams. All of the crystals from these purchases will go into a prize pool that is then split evenly among the players who purchased the winning paint set.
To sweeten the pot, AlternativaPlatform announced that if the tournament stream is watched by enough viewers, the prize pool will increase. If the peak number of viewers tops 20,000, the crystal prize pool will double. 30,000 peak viewers means the pool triples. This pattern continues up until a maximum 5x multiplier for 50,000 peak viewers.
You can catch all of the high-stakes tank action starting at 18.00 BST (1 p.m. EST/10 a.m. PST) Friday on the Tanki Online Twitch channel.
