XL Games and Trion Worlds' long-awaited MMO ArcheAge will be available to play for free this September, with one last beta still to come before that. Time to raid honest sailors!
Our Impressions Of The Fourth Closed Beta Of ArcheAge
September 16, to be exact! If you're a Silver, Gold or Archaeum Founder's Pack owner, you will get a four day head start starting Friday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. The Alpha and Omega servers (these players are REALLY important!) will be shut down for good this Sunday, August 31 at 12:00 a.m. Do make sure to check in before that time but after 6:00 p.m. PDT today if you're a Founder's Pack owner and check your mailbox. A mysterious boon awaits...
But wait! There's more! An open beta (read: no invitation needed) will give you one last try-before-you-don't-buy option before you jump into the world of Erenor on September 16. For people who had taken part in the closed beta events previously, their characters will be waiting for them, and their crops will be timed as you left them on 10 a.m. PDT Thursday, September 4 through 10 a.m. DT Monday, September 8. Which is kinda cruel if you think about it, since all that progress will be wiped for the Founder's Pack owners' head start on September 12. We advise you to futz around in beta and make as many character combos as possible to see what you like, and don't get too attached.
ArcheAge Hacked, Trion Giving Out Refunds For Those Hit
Our impressions of the game were positive overall, with enough to recommend it to players who are looking for something different enough in the MMO scene and don't want to spend a dime (that could have gone to Guild Wars 2).
Look for our opinions on the game post-launch soon!
