One week after Playdek's Ascension: Chronicle Of The Godslayer launched for Android devices on Google Play, the developer announced that the deck-building game will be making its way to the PS Vita.
Grim Fandango Coming To PS Vita
The announcement, made on the PlayStation blog, doesn't give a release window, but it says that the team is currently working on developing the port. According to the post, the Vita version will include tournament play, so players can test their card gathering skills on a global level. The Vita game will also feature competent AI for single player matches and is set to release with five expansions already supported. These expansion packs not only introduce new cards into the game but also add new gameplay mechanics like Energy Shards, Soul Gems, Events and Fate.
For those unfamiliar with Ascension, the goal of the game, currently available on Android and iOS, is to acquire Honor Points by collecting, playing and defeating different cards. Each player starts out with an identical deck then slowly builds it up using cards they pick up from a central line of cards that is constantly being replaced with fresh options. The deck-building mechanic is the same concept that physical board game fans might have seen in the acclaimed card game Dominion.
The base game is currently free on both Google Play and the Apple App Store with expansion packs on sale for a couple of bucks each. There's no word yet on what the pricing will be like for the Vita, but fans of strategic card games are about to have many more options for how they choose to play while they're on the go.
