Netflix did not leave last night's Emmys victorious: none of the streaming service's original programming picked up a single award during Monday night's ceremony.

The shut out is a bummer for the company considering its huge wins at television's biggest night last year, including a Best Drama Director win for David Fincher's work on House of Cards. The service netted 14 nominations last year, but initially came away with over double that amount of nominations this year, reaching a total of 31.
The service did win seven Emmys at a Creative Arts Ceremony last week, including an Emmy for guest actress Uzo Aduba, who you probably know as Crazy Eyes from Orange is the New Black.

The major awards, though, are reserved for the Emmys' Monday night telecast, and Netflix left those awards empty handed.
Last year's approval of the Emmys was the biggest win of all for Netflix--the first online streaming service to get nominated, and breaking a huge institutional barrier for digital streaming portals. However, it looks like some of that fire has flamed out by this year, even considering the service garnered over double the nominations it got last year.
The closest analogy is the premium cable networks like HBO. Once upon a time (a little over a decade ago), the network's programing was never nominated. Now, HBO and other premium cable channels dominate the awards ceremony every year.
