The voice actors behind Bethesda's The Evil Within are no strangers to the thriller/horror genre. Officially announced today by Bethesda, the game's cast includes actors from AMC's Hell on Wheels, Showtime's Dexter and none other than the Nightmare on Elm Street himself.
Evil Within Season Pass Details Announced
Developed by Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within has players controlling seasoned detective Sebastian Castellanos, played by Anson Mount, best known as Cullen Bohannon on Hell on Wheels. He is joined by Jennifer Carpenter – Dexter's foster sister Debra on Dexter – who portrays Sebastian's partner Juli Kidman. She'll also star in an announced DLC content pack that will allow players to step into Kidman's shoes.
Holding up the opposing side of the game is Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley, who provides the voice for Ruvik, The Evil Within's main antagonist. Haley is known for being the man behind the mask as Watchmen's Rorschach and as horror icon Freddy Krueger in the 2010 reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Odds are, if the game's horror survival setting isn't enough to make you feel uneasy, hearing the villain's voice and realizing that you're fighting against Freddy Krueger will do the trick.
The Onion Rallies Against Anti-Barbed Wire Propaganda In The Evil Within
Bethesda's YouTube channel released a video featuring interviews with all of these actors and how they took to video game work. Check it out to see these voice actors talk about watching other actors flail around in mo-cap suits and trying to figure out what they would sound like if they caught on fire.
Directed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, The Evil Within will be released October 14 for Sony, Microsoft and Windows systems.
