We've covered Skywind--the incredible fan mod recreating Morrowind in Skyrim's engine--before, and a new lengthy video has been released to show us even more of the project.
Destiny Trailer Shows Off Venus Campaign Locales
While the gameplay in the footage itself isn't terribly exciting (the player is mostly showing us around the different regions that have been crafted), anyone who has played Morrowind or is excited for this mod will be thrilled to see the landscapes recreated with superior graphics.
The higher quality textures, models and effects are a major part of what makes this mod appealing, but is not the only reason fans would play it over the original. Morrowind was a fantastic game at the time--and the story, setting, and lore remain as such--but the outdated menu systems and UI design make it very difficult to go back and play without being frustrated to some degree. The menus in Oblivion and Skyrim greatly streamlined the experience, and adding those to Morrowind with improved graphics is a mouthwatering proposition for fans. The map shown near the end of the video looks great, as well.
New Total War: Rome II DLC Released, Free And Paid Unit Packs Available Now
A playable release is still being worked towards, and the footage you see below is from an alpha build. This means that fans still have an unspecified amount of time to wait, but I'd personally rather the project be complete (or close to it) before it's released to the masses. Those working on it are volunteers, and transferring all of Morrowind's geographical and quest content into a new engine is quite the undertaking. For now, enjoy the new scenery and keeping checking back for more news.
