Today, Nintendo has finally revealed that Meta Knight will be joining the battle, an announcement fans have been anxiously awaiting and hoping for. Yesterday's post showed off Mii Fighters with Samus and Meta Knight helmets, adding fuel to the speculation fire about whether or not the character himself would be playable in the upcoming games.
Sakurai posted in the Miiverse Forums revealing the character, having a bit of fun at first from Meta Knight's perspective:

"'Looks like there was an impostor in the earlier posts, so I introduced him to my sword!'...I'll leave it up to your imagination if he really said that or not. The veteran hero, Meta Knight, returns to battle!! We didn't forget the Battleship Halberd either!!
"Meta Knight's Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move"
The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo still has plenty of time to make that announcement.
Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, the Mii Fighters and an appearance by Mr. Game & Watch, though he has not yet been confirmed as playable. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai has continued to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.
