The recent loss of actor Robin Williams has hit all of us here at GameNGuide. We loved him and we will miss him.
World Of Warcraft Sheds Nearly A Million Players
Everyone else feels the same. Many memorials have sprung up, on the Mrs. Doubtfire stoop in San Francisco; and in Boston, where a petition is going around to have Williams' character from Good Will Hunting immortalized in bronze on the bench where he had his famous monologue.
Williams was an avid video game player. He named his daughter Zelda after the Hylian Princess, even appearing in several commercials to promote Ocarina and Four Swords and more with her.

He was also a huge World of Warcraft player. Sometimes, he even acted like a troll apparently. Maybe he was one... One player of the game, Jacob Holgate, knew this and has petitioned Blizzard to create a character based on Robin Williams. The petition reads in part, "Because of his presence within our community, we the players of World of Warcraft are asking Blizzard to kindly create an NPC within the game that memorializes the actor/comedian. Many have expressed a wish to this character perform some of Williams best jokes within the Worlds End Tavern, so that he may continue making us smile long after his passing."
The petition had not even accrued 10,000 signatures before Blizzard responded. Chad Nervig, a technical game designer over at Blizzard, posted the simple response: "Yes. We're taking care of it."
Now, that's hardly the most positive of answers, but Blizzard is very open and communicative with its community, so I am sure it is very much under serious consideration.
The question remains: what should a Robin Williams NPC character look like? He strikes me as being something of a gnome. But why stop at just recreating Williams? Why not make the NPC his floating head character from Baron Munchausen, or the crazy guy from Toys? He could be a cross dressing dinner patron who darts back and forth trying to calm two groups of people. He could be a member of some medieval-esque radio corps or even a wise teacher, sitting on a bench for every player to come by and chat a little with.
Yeah, I like that last one.
