Hasbro continues its moves to get with the times as the classic toy company signed on a partnership with online game giant Zynga. The toy company who is famous for games such as Life, Battleship, and Scrabble, has revived its lineup of products now that Hasbro are licensed to produce products from Zynga games. Zynga's most popular online titles include Farmville and Mafia Wars. It is most likely that fans will soon see toys from these well known games.
Zynga founder Mark Pincus expressed excitement in the new partnership.
"It's exciting to partner with Hasbro as we share a common vision for play and a mission to connect the world through games," Pincus said in a statement.
"This partnership is so special because it represents an exciting leap forward in enabling people to connect their virtual and real worlds."
Chief executive of Hasbro, Brian Goldner, shared the same enthusiasm.
"Zynga is redefining how people play...This strategic alliance plays off of both Hasbro's and Zynga's proven strengths and is emblematic of the new innovations and new platforms we are creating across our entire gaming portfolio," said Goldner.
Looking at the success of Rovio's Angry Birds partnership with Mattel to create an Angry Bird board game, there appears to be high potential in the Zynga and Hasbro team up. Zynga will look to utilize the partnership in advancing its collection of online game titles. The alliance would seem proper in combining online with physical real world products.
Hasbro also looks to be in good position with a hand in the online market along with its upcoming film Battleship, due to hit theatres this May 2012. The film is based on Hasbro's classic board game of the same name.
