Lightbulb Crew has canceled their Kickstarter project two weeks into it, but not because it's worried that it can't make its goal of 100k. Nope, it's for a happy reason- it has secured funding!
World of Warcraft Subscriber Base Shrinks Nearly 1 Million Players In Three Months
Has this happened before? I can't think of a Kickstarter project that was canceled for such a good reason. Just think of that lousy movie Zack Braff made- soaking up 3 million from the people, and then getting extra funding he got from his industry friends. For a project to give the money back to the people after securing funding is commendable and shows a lot of goodwill towards their future player base.
Of course, it was all due to the great feedback Games of Glory's early backers that allowed them to secure additional funding from their existing investors, in the first place. Thanks to them the game will be finished, and those who already backed the game will receive special rewards.

Current Kickstarter backers will receive a free backer kit that includes early access to the game, which is currently in a playable Alpha build.
Games of Glory is being praised for not only its sci-fi feel but for its FPS-style weapon system which makes it unlike any MOBA out there. It's a simple but neat trick- you can change your active weapon on the fly, swapping from sniper rifles to grenade launcher as you like. There will be more than 40 weapons available at launch.
"I am excited about the support from new and existing fans, which has been the key to securing the financing to make Games of Glory a great game," said Anders Larsson, studio founder, Lightbulb Crew. "We are continuing to develop the game together with our community and would like to thank everyone who has made this possible by supporting us. We look forward to releasing Games of Glory with many advanced features."
