The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.
Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, the Mii Fighters and an appearance by Mr. Game & Watch, though he has not yet been confirmed as playable. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Today's post shows off a new item, Boss Galaga, which can trap you in its tractor beam. Here's Sakurai's accompanying description for the image above:
"Pic of the day. If you get caught in the Boss Galaga item's tractor beam, it will carry you away to the top of the screen. You can shoot it down, but it won't join you in battle for double the firepower."
Sounds irritating if it catches you, but new items are always welcome. Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
