Major Nelson is back and he's teasing all the new features coming in August's Xbox One update. The new features will be made available to everyone with Early Access on the system this week.
Watch Dogs Reigns Supreme In The UK
The new updates are all about bringing you and your friends closer together. The friends that slay together, stay together after all. The activity feed is getting quite an overhaul. "The interface will change to a single column scrolling list that is longer and includes more content. We'll add the ability to post text to your feed, and to "like" and comment on feed items." Because Facebook is really, really good at this stuff.
Now, directly from the home menu, you'll be able to see what's happening with your gamer friends. They will no longer be relegated to a separate tab. You'll have access to all their activities, what games everyone else is playing and of course, their Gamerscore. Additionally, the friends list "will now show how long it's been since a friend has been online. For example, "Last seen 20m ago: Forza Motorsport 5."
Styx: Master Of Shadows Hits The Xbox One This Fall
Perhaps the biggest change is the ability to remotely download games to the Xbox One. "Using Xbox SmartGlass or on Xbox.com, you can remotely purchase games and Add-on content. No more waiting to begin downloading when you get home." As long as your console is set to automatically download, that 10 gig file will be all ready for you after a long day of work.
3D Blu Ray will be enabled on all Xbox One machines, because the market is positively huge for that stuff right now.
And what is the most long overdue function, you can now turn off notifications when you're watching something. Because nothing ruins a date night in watching Casablanca on Netflix worse than 'TrickHoneyYolo420 is now online' popping up right when Rick and Elsa are saying goodbye.
