The end of the world never looked so good. Heavenly Sword, the PS3 title that was going to shake up the industry, is instead shaking up your Blu-Ray collection. A CGI spin-off film will be hitting shelves and digital distributors on September 2.
Hyrule Warriors Gets Some New Screens Showing Off Skyward Sword Content
The film has been in production for some time, the game was originally meant to arrive in June. It stars Anna Torv, who voiced main character Nariko in the 2007 Goddess of War-esque title, Thomas Jane as new character Loki, veteran bad guy Alfred Molina as King Bohan, the antagonist in the game and because this is, in fact, a video game: Nolan North.
The film will closely follow the events of Heavenly Sword, wherein Nariko must protect the titular sword from the forces of King Bohan from using the sword's terrible power against the world. The sword slowly drains Nariko of life, the price she alone must bear for wielding such power. I suppose that's why they never made a sequel, especially in this day of endless enfranchisement.
Hellraid: The Escape Launches On iOS
Blockade Entertainment, who is producing the title, is using extensive assets from the original game so players can expect a very similar experience. The visuals look serviceable at best. Any movie's look can be overcome if there's a good story behind it, so we'll see.
No word yet if the movie will contain numerous hat throwing games. Guess we will just have to wait for the Blu-Ray. The game will also be available on the PlayStation Network for download. Pricing for the DVD version with be $14.93, while the Blu-Ray will cost $19.97.
