The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.
Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, Mr. Game & Watch, and the Mii Fighters. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.
Wii U Zelda Not Exactly Open World, Says Miyamoto
Today's post switches back to alternative character costumes, which we saw multiple updates about last week. Samus and Mario star in the new image, featuring an awesome all-white look and an America-themed outfit respectively. Here's Sakurai's description of the above image, explaining where the clothing came from:
"The character farther in the back isn't from the Imperial forces, and the character in the front is not the infamous drum-playing puppet in Osaka. No, Mario is actually wearing an outfit from Family Computer Golf: U.S. Course! NES Open Tournament Golf might be a more familiar title."
Mario is featured on the cover of NES Open Tournament Golf in that outfit, which is a bit of an obscure, but amusing choice for an alternate costume (while Samus just looks very cool). Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, to see if those fans will get their wishes.
