‘Dragon Quest X’ 3DS Release Date For Portable MMO RPG Announced… For Japan

Dragon Quest X Is Coming To 3DS But Not Leaving Japan Anytime Soon

The Square Enix online role-playing game Dragon Quest X will make the jump to Nintendo's portable console this fall after already having conquered the Wii and Android platforms.

Zelda Wii U Not Exactly Open World

Square Enix has announced the long-awaited jump from online PC gaming to Nintendo's 3DS console for the popular tenth installment of its colorful RPG, initially released to Wii and Wii U before arriving on Android and PC as well. Now, this September 4, 3DS owners will be able to join the battle against Nelgel, Lord of Hell... If they live in Japan, that is.

No non-Japanese release dates have as yet to be announced, and Square Enix seems in no hurry to translate this game that's been around for the nearly two years already. Off-line play will, like the previous versions, be limited to a few hours, after which an internet connection is necessary. The content will in fact be streamed straight from Square Enix' servers, so expect the game to look pretty as Nelgel-Hell.

Kingdom Hearts III Release Date, Intro Video, Trailer

The 3DS version of Dragon Quest X will include 60 days of free play until they are prompted to pony up their yens in the form of three, 10 or 30-day (around $15 for the latter) passes. Any Japan-based GameNGuide readers or import lovers out there to give us a better impression of this game where you "start out as a human, but eventually become one of the other races" as per the game's wiki? Because that's fascinating to me, to be honest!
