'GTA Online' Heist Missions Release Delayed Again [VIDEO]

Rockstar Delays Heists Missions for GTA Online, 'Taking More Time to Create Than Originally Anticipated'

With deathmatches, all manner of races, customization options, and more, there's a lot to do to stay busy with GTA Online, but that hasn't stopped the players from wanting one of the game's most anticipated features - heists. The only problem is that time and time again, Rockstar has delayed releasing the feature. So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that they just did it again.

Skinny Jeans and Whole Foods Mentality Strikes GTA Online With 'I'm Not a Hipster' Update

News of the delay came via a post on Rockstar's announcement for the recently released "I'm Not a Hipster" update. Prior to this, the last official word on heists came while Rockstar was detailing the High Life update, and promised they would arrive in Spring. The post is as follows:

"For those of you asking about other upcoming GTA Online updates, we have lots more in store coming your way soon. We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support. Stay tuned for more information on that as well as lots of other ongoing content updates, enhancements and additions to the world of GTA Online that are on the way."

Grand Theft Auto Online's Bad Sport System is Broken

Obviously, ironing out as many kinks as possible is always ideal, but one theory proposed by GamingTechUnited is that Rockstar is intentionally holding off on heists until GTA V releases on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4.

Writes the outlet's Rich Drummond: "What I honestly think happened is that amid the launch problems with Grand Theft Auto Online, things were pushed back due to the constant woes that plagued the servers and players' saves. This push back in scheduling heists were probably just delayed a bit in production and since the launch of the next generation of games was already upon us, they decided to wait until the game released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC."

As the developer has yet to provide an official release date for the game on the platforms, that seems unlikely. It would also serve to further detach and annoy an already frustrated audience, something any developer would want to avoid.

When Rockstar provides a clear answer on the release of either GTA V for Xbox One and PS4, or heists for GTA Online, we'll be sure to let you know. Meanwhile, check out what the game will look like on the next-gen systems by watching the video below.
