It was reported back in February that Kiefer Sutherland claimed to have voiced a character for a new Mortal Kombat game. Back then, developer NetherRealms hadn't yet announced Mortal Kombat X, so it was difficult to confirm, even though Boon himself seemed confused at the "news." But at the end of E3 2014, Boon joined in on a live GiantBomb broadcast, where he spoke on Sutherland's late winter announcement, and outright denied that Sutherland was in the game.

Mortal Kombat X is due out later this year for both current and last generation platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, in addition to Windows PC. It'll be the first game in the series that'll allow players to "choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style." Six characters have been announced so far: Scorpion and Sub-Zero represent the old favorites (though Boon has promised more), while D'Vorah, Cassie Cage, Ferra/Toor and Kotal Kahn are brand spankin' new.
