In 2012, the LLC was acquired by Legendary Entertainment, but has continued to independently operate with Chris Hardwick at the helm.
GameNGuide was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to chat with the company's Editor-In-Chief, Brian Walton, who explained what the company that caters to one's inner geek have been up to at E3 in Los Angeles.

"For the websites we have Dan Casey and Malik Forte out there gathering all this great interview coverage and hands on demos. Our gaming hub is one of our biggest area," he said.
While many media outlets are primarily looking to land coverage of gaming's future blockbusters at the industry trade show, Walton said they are looking to discover its sleepers, which at one point happened to include a now rapidly growing independent publisher named Telltale Games.
"We're trying to find those niche games that people aren't talking about. We were one of the first sites to get behind the Telltale bandwagon and that's what we want to find when we come to places like this," he explained.
Although Nerdist has a track record for being keen to a smaller demographic, the Editor-In-Chief did admit that they'd still be covering the conference's heavy hitters such as the Zelda franchise. Nonetheless, he continued stressing the importance of recognizing the unknown video game talents.
"We're going to cover the big stuff, and our audience loves Zelda, but there's people that might need a little help. They need developers," he said.
When queried on what his favorite games where at the virtual extravaganza, Walton was quick to point out two of them.
"I absolutely love Hyrule Warriors. That is a really fun Zelda game, and then Evolve is my game of the show. It's the best multi-player game I've played in a long time," he stated.
To form an even deeper connection with its unorthodox followers, Nerdist Industries will soon be adding a well-known streaming video site to its arsenal of platforms; Twitch TV. Interestingly enough, the company currently has nearly 941,000 subscribers on its Youtube channel alone.
"We're going to be live streaming a bunch of new shows on Twitch. It's where our audience has been and we need to get there as well," Walton said.
When asked about Hardwick's involvement with E3, Walton said that The Talking Dead couldn't make it due a busy schedule. However, he was quick to point out his boss' interest in the world of gaming as well as his efforts for Nerdist.
"With E3 specifically, Chris' schedule didn't line up. He's a huge gamer. He wanted us to be here. Gave us pretty much carte blanche to put up as much stuff as we wanted. He's a good supporter of the site and a great ambassador for the site," he said.
Although Walton kept mum about letting out any information Hardwick may have about season 5 of AMC's The Walking Dead, he did seemingly indicate that fans will be getting some new info on Nerdist.com sooner then they think.
"I actually can't talk about that because there may or not be some news coming soon, so stay tuned to Nerdist.com for that," he said.
