Harrison Ford Injured On The Set of 'Star Wars Episode VII', Han Solo Airlifted Off Of Millennium Falcon

Harrison Ford Injured On The Set of 'Star Wars Episode VII'

Reports coming out of the Star Wars set is that actor Harrison Ford has been injured with an ankle injury.

The 71 year old actor is reprising his role as Han Solo in the seventh installment of the legendary science fiction series when he suffered the injury. Disney released the statement: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."

He's a much older man swashbuckling around the universe, the chances of him getting injured are far greater than his younger, lightsaber-wielding co-stars but I'm sure there's some urban myth in Hollywood about your venerable actor (oh god, Harrison Ford is the venerable actor in this scenario) getting injured while shooting.

Reports state that Ford was on the actual physical set of the Millennium Falcon when he suffered his injury. One would expect the actor to make a full recovery.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by JJ Abrams. In addition to Ford, actors Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are reprising their roles from the original trilogy, as well as Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. New to the Star Wars universe are John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley and Max von Sydow. The film is rumored to take place 30 years after the events of The Return of the Jedi, though few other plot details are known.

Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters in December of 2015. Everyone wishes for a speedy and full recovery for Mr. Ford.
