Nintendo released a slew of Super Smash Bros. news yesterday, including no less than four new playable characters coming to the final roster. Pac-man and Mr. Game & Watch were the last additions, following Lady Palutena and the Mii Fighters.

Pac-man is probably the most surprising addition, with the iconic video game character joining his old counterparts Mario, Sonic and Megaman in Nintendo's brawl-fest, a collaboration Nintendo notes in the reveal trailer below. Mr. Game & Watch has been in the series before, but is perhaps a surprising inclusion given some of the other former characters who have not yet been confirmed for the new version.
Lady Palutena from the Kid Icarus series is joining the fray, showing off a bevy of powerful moves. Nintendo led into the reveal with an entertaining animated clash between Link and Pit, before Palutena took over to fight for herself.
3DS Super Smash Bros. Release Date Announced
In Kid Icarus, Lady Palutena is a goddess who oversees Pit's adventures, and she will bring her array of powers such as reflect, angelic missile, black hole, mega laser, super speed, and more to the battle.
As for the interesting Mii Fighter character, your very own Mii face can be placed on the body of one of three pre-made body types: the Brawler, Gunner, or Swordfighter.
Each character type fights differently, and you can actually choose which special attacks to take into battle from 36 different options, letting you create a customized character for the first time. It's an interesting way to incorporate Miis into the series, something the team wanted to do before, but didn't feel they had the right system to incorporate them.
Nintendo also revealed the long-awaited release date for the 3DS version of the game, which will launch ahead of the Wii U edition. Super Smash Bros For 3DS will be available on October 3, with the console title set to launch during the holiday season.
