Zombie-killing action title Dead Rising 3 will be coming to PC through Steam this summer, Capcom has announced.
Online Posting Hints At Red Dead Redemption PC?
Up until now the game has been an Xbox One exclusive, serving as a launch title for Microsoft's new console. The original Dead Rising is only available on Xbox 360, though Dead Rising 2 launched on PlayStation and Xbox 360 simultaneously, later making its way to PC.
It remains to be seen if the game will head over to the PS4 at any point, as that's a different move than becoming available on Microsoft's Windows platform.
Watch Dogs Graphics Comparison Video Looks At PC vs Old And New Consoles
Dead Rising 3 was met with relatively warm reviews, some of which noted that the game had dropped some of the series' zany charm (though watching the trailer, that seems hard to believe. The graphics, while good, were not stunningly next generation either, which seemed to have lessened some of the excitement as one of the first games made specifically for the new consoles.
Though this is speculation on my part, it's not hard to imagine that this was the plan between Microsoft and Capcom from the beginning. It benefitted both the Xbox One (getting a popular franchise as an exclusive at launch) and the developer (the title got to be hyped as a next-gen launch exclusive), and they can now both expand the game onto another platform without helping Sony.
A new trailer is below via Capcom U.K., though the gameplay itself won't be anything we haven't seen before. It looks pretty stunning graphically, however, presumably on a powerful rig. There's no exact release date yet, but it will be out this summer.
