'Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor' E3 Trailer Has CGI Comparable To The Hobbit Films, Lots Of Beheadings [VIDEO]

New 'Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor' E3 Trailer Beheads A Lot of Bad Guys

WB Games and Monolith have just released a new trailer for their upcoming action RPG, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Titled "Gravewalker", the trailer introduces us to one of Talion's many enemies, the pale orc general responsible for the death of Talion's family and fellow rangers. Don't worry though, there's still plenty of decapitations to go around.

As far as badass nicknames go, "Gravewalker" is certainly in the top 5. The title is given to Talion after he is possessed by an immortal Wraith Spirit that also, in the time-honored video game tradition, seeks revenge against the dark one, Sauron. The trailer looks stunning and is filled with stealth kills, ghost bows and 'come at me bro!' standoffs. The orcs rendered are on par with those in the new The Hobbit films, and since the entire world is rendered by computers, they don't seem so out of place here.

The trailer is part of Monolith and WB Games' E3 showcase, set to happen next week at the big convention. One hopes that this is not the only thing they are showing and is meant more as an appetizer to bigger and better things. Shadow of Mordor Story Trailer Shows Off Tolkien's World Like Never Before

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor delivers a dynamic game environment where the player orchestrates their personal plan of vengeance as they bend Mordor to their will. The game begins on the night of Sauron's return to Mordor, as his Black Captains brutally execute the Rangers of the Black Gate. Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance. Based on the player's actions with the in-game Nemesis System, every enemy encountered is distinct and can evolve to become a personal archenemy through the course of the game. As Talion's personal vendetta unfolds, players uncover the mystery of the Spirit that compels him, discover the origin of the Rings of Power and confront the ultimate nemesis.

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, the third and final entry into The Hobbit franchise hits theaters in December, so Shadow of Mordor is the best way to fill that Middle-Earth sized hole in your heart in the meantime. The game arrives October 7.
